  • What is the importance of respiratory protection?

In many work environments, workers are confronted – possibly unknowingly – with air pollution. Inhaling these substances poses serious health risks. In the short term, this often seems harmless, as it is ‘only’ associated with fatigue, sneezing, coughing, irritation of the airways …

With repeated exposure, however, the long-term consequences are incalculable. Symptoms may then evolve into asthma, bronchitis or other serious lung diseases.

Adequate respiratory protection is therefore essential for a healthy workplace!

  • Why is there no P3 mark on the filter?

The filter of the Kite is a fine dust filter of P3 quality, providing the highest possible protection against dust. According to standard EN 12941 for airhoods with blower unit, the protection level on the filter is indicated as TH 3 P.

  • Can a dirty filter be cleaned out?

No, the Kite filters cannot be cleaned. A dirty filter must therefore be replaced with a new one when indicated by the device.

Caution: tapping the filter or blowing it out with compressed air can damage the sensitive filter material and lead to leakage. This causes internal contamination and may eventually cause malfunctions.

  • For which tasks can I not use the Kite?

Kite airhoods are not compatible with gas filters. It is therefore not suitable for use in environments with elevated concentrations of certain gases.

The units do not have an Atex mark. So in environments where this is mandatory, the Kite cannot be used.

Finally, the Kite cannot be used in areas with little or no oxygen, for such applications only self-contained breathing protection is possible.

  • The Kite beeps every 30 seconds, what does this mean?

When the Kite’s battery is low, a beep can be heard that repeats every 30 seconds. The user is thus warned that protection will soon cease and that he/she should seek a safe environment. There, the user can recharge the Kite or connect the extra battery pack.

  • The Kite beeps every second, what does this mean?

When the Kite’s filter is almost completely saturated, a beep can be heard that repeats every second. The user is thus alerted when it is time to replace the dirty filter with a new one. Periodic filter changes are necessary to keep the unit internally clean.

  • How long does a P3 filter last?

This is highly dependent on the pollution level of the environment and the number of hours of use per day. For example, if the user is working in a poorly ventilated room, the filter will be clogged up sooner than if the user does the same work outdoors. In most cases, it can be said that the filter will last for weeks, often much longer.

  • How do I maintain the Kite?

To ensure long-term functioning of the Kite, proper use and maintenance is essential. Clean the unit between working shifts and store it in a clean place. A dirty face seal or well-worn comfort pads can easily be replaced with a new one. That way, it always remains comfortable to work with the Kite. The device can be cleaned using a damp cloth with a mild soap or an alcohol-based spray.

Caution: be very careful when blowing the Kite clean with compressed air. Never blow into the interior of the unit. If you do, the motor will be overloaded which often causes irreversible damage immediately.
